Some of the tools I use daily to get work done, or just tinker / learn.

People sometimes ask what type of computer I'm using, my desk setup, etc. Some of it is listed below.

Workstation setup

  • M1 Mac Mini

Small, but powerful machine that is easy for me to move around my house to have flexibility on where I decide to work.

  • 15" MacBook Pro

This is a MUCH older machine, but I currently have Ubuntu as the OS for this hardware and plan to purchase a M3 MacBook Pro in the coming months.

  • iPad Pro 11"

I usually have this device with me most often to get things done when I don't have a laptop in reach.

  • Samsung TU872 32" x2

When I am working at my desk, I'm using two Samsung 4K displays connected to my Mac Mini or to a machine via Thunderbolt / USB-C connection.

Developer Tools

  • VS Code

Currently the text / code editor I am use frequently for writing things as simple as a bash script or building a Python / JavaScript application.

  • Mac OS Terminal

When I'm not working within VS Code, you will probably catch me with the stock Mac OS Terminal opened doing something.

  • Raspberry Pi

Technically can be used for WAY more than what I use some of mine for currently, but I have one of the Raspberry Pi devices on my network as a development / sandbox server.

Productivity

  • Firefox Developer Edition

I do a lot of my work, and basic testing using this browser. I know I should do more testing in Chrome / Edge as well, but this browser works for me. I also use the Multi-Account Containers daily to separate environments within a single browser window.

  • Mac / Outlook Calendar

I do my best to use my calendar(s) for work I'm doing or need to do, as well as meetings, etc. to help keep me on task and see where my time is actually going.

  • Reminders

I use the Reminders application on my Apple devices frequently and occasionally use Microsoft "To Do" to track daily tasks.
